What is SmartWater?
SmartWater Technology manufactures a generic property marking system suitable for use across a wide range of property, from cars to antiques, that is easy to apply but extremely difficult for criminals to remove. Modelled upon, but more robust than DNA profiling, the company’s royal award-winning products are now used to protect the property of hundreds of thousands of customers worldwide as well as being increasingly used for new applications involving security, manufacturing, quality control and anti-counterfeiting.
Smartwater, do we really want this? According to their homepage, smartwater is a DNA-style forensic security system. You can put it on your property and it’ll spray a thief, with a liquid that’s DNA coded.
A highly effective deterrent in combating crime, SmartWater works by coding household contents and personal belongings, which guarantees that stolen property can not only be dentified as stolen but it can also be returned to its rightful owner. Which is basically giving your property it’s own DNA code.
What is the purpose of that? Yes it would prevent some crime, but the Liquid can’t ever be removed from your clothing??
Although harmless, the solution will remain detectable on skin or hair for weeks after the event and will stay on footwear and clothing indefinitely. invisible to the naked eye, SmartWater glows under ultraviolet light.
What has SmartWater achieved?
- Contributed towards a 9% reduction in crime across Scarborough by supporting victims and challenging perpetrators of domestic abuse; supporting a ‘Smartwater’ initiative; and increasing membership of ‘Watch’ Schemes.
